This page contains some information regarding prices (and information on payment options). However, please call me on +44 (0)7775 833616 or send an email to discuss your project.

A quick chat is an easy way to work out a budget. You may be surprised how economical it is to use a professional freelance designer as opposed to an agency or high street design shop. That said, please be realistic about your budget. I am very dedicated to every project I take on, but I am occasionally surprised by a few clients who want me to work over several weeks for a few hundred pounds. Yes, you can get a template website build for £200 or a 'me too' logo for £99 elsewhere, but I'm afraid it will look, well . . . like £200 or £99. Make sure your enterprise succeeds by giving it the critical investment it needs.

Promotional items

Due to the diversity of work relating to ads, posters, catalogues, leaflets and invitations, it is not possible to give a sensible price guide for these projects here. The budget for these projects will depend on many things, e.g. how much you provide, as opposed to how much I need to source or create. Will you provide high resolution images and clean text, structured ideas, examples etc?

Please pull together as much information as you can, then give me a call. Essentially the cost relates to the amount of time I spend on the project. Don't worry, the brief will tell me how much time I realistically need to complete the work, and the quote will reflect that.

If you need a stunning new logo and branding 'look' as part of your promotion, then in most cases it is logical for me to design your logo, and feed that into the design of your business cards, stationery, compliment slips, flyers, posters and website if required. Either way a quick call or email to me will give you a good idea.

Logo and brand identity

Take a look at some examples in my recent work. As with any new project, it is good for me to assess the brief before quoting. Essentially the budget is linked to how much time you want me to spend on the job. As the logo is your identity and the front line, it's not wise to hold back if you are serious about having a recognizable and unique logo/branding identity.

Some logo and branding options are listed here. I have also included a list of questions which help me assess the brief and the level of work needed. It is always the client who can determine how much they want to invest. The emotional response to your look is critical. I need to research your area in order to make the logo/branding fit. Essentially you pay for what you get when it comes to logo/branding, but as a professional freelancer I can produce results far quicker and cheaper than an agency.

Project Options

Small Logo Only Project
If you explicitly know what you want, the design is straight forward, brief is clear and no research is required. You have an existing design, or drawings of the logo that just needs re-drawing for web/other media. £180
Medium Logo Only Project
If you don't need full brand identity. Would suit a personal brand logo for example website only logo. A thorough brief would be needed, and there are time constraints on changes. £300
Large Logo and Branding Identity Project
There are several price ranges here. Essentially the price effects the overall result based on time spent to ensure perfect fit. As a good example, the logo for the promotional company Fully Circle Live took 3 weeks. I provided more than 8 different ideas and we went through four rounds of changes using two main contenders. The cost for that work which included business cards, letterhead and compliment slip designs came to £1,000. The price for a full logo design project varies from £500 to over £1,000 depending on the level or work required.

Logo and Brand Identity Questions

It is useful to provide as much information as you can. If you don't know, or haven't considered any of these, then just answering no is also useful.

  1. Brand Name and Tag Line - What brand names do you have? Do you need a tag line?
  2. Schedule - What is your schedule and ideal project start date?
  3. Where will your logo be used? - Corporate Literature, Marketing Merchandise, Website, Stationery, Clothing, Vehicle Livery etc
  4. What style of logos appeal to you (or you think will appeal to those seeing your new brand)? If you have any ideas, it's good to see what wavelength you are on. It is useful to list website addresses of anything you like and indeed anything you don't like in your brand arena.
  5. Key words - What words describe the feeling you want the logo and branding to evoke, and what words summarise the company ethos? As many as you like.
  6. Colours and Dynamics - This is linked to the style of logo that appeals. Sometimes it's good to home in on a primary and secondary colour to use throughout the branding, but this obviously depends on the look you want. Sometimes more is more, especially if your look is a collage!
  7. Images, Hidden Meaning - Are there any images/symbols or icons you like? Images that sum up what the company does. Hints of symbolism can be a powerful promoter.
  8. Logo Wording - Preferences on what to include or not to include, i.e. full company name, initials, symbolism or all three?
  9. Target Audience and Intended Market - A list is useful, as there may be elements to your audience profile that only you will pick up on. The logo needs to speak to everyone on the list.
  10. What does the logo/branding need to say about the company?
  11. Will the business be niche/unique in any way? Or are you competing against the whole arena?
  12. Who are your main competitors? Website addresses are useful, but just names are OK at the initial stage.

Web design

Currently I specialise in designing novel websites (they are not 'me too'). This means that I will develop a website which accurately fits your needs, AND is visually stimulating. My sites are designed to the highest standards and are W3C compliant.

Have you noticed websites out there that look similar. In a crowded market place, you really need to stand out from the rest. People don't read! We are so bombarded by advertising, signs and news, that we only read something that grabs our attention. If your potential customers / clients don't see something of interest within 4 seconds, they click away. To that end, I always integrate a wealth of ideas to give you the edge over the competition. Sometimes I throw something together that pushes the boundaries. This example wasn't used in the final site due to load times, but it lead to other ideas which were included. It is certainly good fun though as a concept for building a website page in front of the observer. Tip: wait for the bus to leave to watch the site build.

Please see examples of my recent work.

Example 1: www.ecandd.co.uk ~ Budget approximately £400

This is one of the simplest websites I have completed. Three pages, encrypted email links and contact form and a simple Paypal Payments Standard link. This site included business card design using an already established logo design.

Example 2: www.denhamosteopathy.co.uk ~ Budget approximately £900

Jayne at Denham Osteopathy needed full branding and a website to attract new clients. It was great to design something with a more alternative theme to the mainstream and also to do something which really leaves the competition standing. There are some awful osteopathy websites out there! This site includes dynamic hover programming which allows the observer to check the range of services offered on a single page. Jayne's site would only have cost around £700, but extensive branding was needed, logo, business cards and stationery.

Example 3: www.discoverhiddenlondon.co.uk ~ Budget approximately £1,000

This site uses a special parallax effect in the header (hover your mouse). Full branding was integrated into this entertaining site which also includes Google's street view so potential clients know where to meet for the London Walking Tours.

Example 4: www.cash4records.co.uk ~ Budget approximately £1,200

I designed the logo, branding and website for cash4records from scratch. The project had a simple brief which was critical to business success - to make people call the website owner. The site uses animation and an open disarming approach to make people feel relaxed about calling cash4records to sell their records. The animation and sound linkage work on this website doubled the budget. A similar website including full branding would have cost approximately £500.

Example 5: www.lizziepalmer.co.uk ~ Budget approximately £1,300

This project for Lizzie Palmer a business consultant and marketeer needed to be crisp and clear. The essence to the business was communication and also fun. Lizzie works in large companies often with large groups in team building, storytelling in business, marketing, coaching and branding. The site includes strong branding and critical information selling Lizzie's services. She has some very successful clients who have powerful brands, so the website needed to look very 'now'. Watch out for some promotional post cards in the stationery section of my site. Commissioned by Lizzie, these postcards should be ready very soon.

Example 6: www.villaenfrance.co.uk ~ Budget approximately £1,600

This villa is set in the foothills of the Pyranees and being a large investment in a idylic location required some help online. The budget not only included the website branding and basic content, but also several dynamic galleries, updateable AJAX calendar, full blown Wordpress Blog, floor plan and extensive image processing. The results are attracting new clients because the site captures the magic of the villa and the location.

Larger projects

I work closely with another web designer for larger projects. If you need a full blown e-commerce or database driven website and your requirements exceed £3,000, then contact me. I work closely with Sarah Fisher at fishersimons webdesign. As a team, we deliver larger projects efficiently and to budget.
